Pretty No Carve Painted Pumpkins

A few years ago, I went crazy with my pumpkin purchases. Like seriously crazy–I had at least 30 pumpkins in my small apartment. Big, mini, white, orange, cinderella, you name it. Well, guess what? This year I only bought 21. Hey, it’s an improvement. I love decorating pumpkins just like I do Easter eggs. It’s something my family always did and enjoyed, and I still look forward to it every year. There are a bazillion different ways to decorate them–as you know if you’re on Pinterest. People are really thinking outside the box!

But I’m keeping today’s project simple. Painting is one of my favorite ways to decorate them–and it’s a wonderful alternative to carving. I love white pumpkins (who doesn’t?), and I decided to go for a glam black and white theme. These pumpkins are pretty and sophisticated—I think they would look great as a table centerpiece! I styled a few with napkins from Target and they’re definitely on trend!

Free Printable: Don’t Let Yesterday Take Too Much of Today

A friend recently told me that we teach what we need to learn most. It really resonated with me because many of the printables I shared over the summer have ideas and meanings that I need to learn, work towards, or (constantly) remind myself. This week’s printable is no different.

DIY Moving Announcements

I love this end-of-summer-beginning-of-fall weather. It’s still warm and sunny during the day but there’s a definite crispness to the air and it smells like leaves and wood stoves at night. And in Seattle, it’s sort of a calm before the storm, the storm being never-ending rain, clouds, and darkness. So, yay for now!

Today I’m sharing a tutorial for DIY moving announcements for my friend who is movin’ on up to a larger apartment across town. She has a sophisticated but casual style and I really wanted to reflect that in her design. All of the paper I used is from JAM Paper. They have lots of fun office supplies and a HUGE paper selection and–note to self–they offer high quality colored paper in larger sizes such as legal, 11″ x 17″, and 12.5″ x 18″, which can be really hard to find.

DIY Glitter Boots

DIY Glitter Boots: Gold Standard Workshop

I’m so excited for these DIY glitter boots!! I’ve been wanting to make them for months. Months, I tell you. But I couldn’t find the right boots. I looked at Goodwill, Ross, TJ Maxx, Target, and all over online. I finally found some at Target (part of their new fall boot collection) a few weeks ago. I scooped them up for $34.99. Not super cheap, but they were closer to what I wanted than anything else I’d seen and I knew I had to get them (and hey–Target is having a BOGO sale right now online!) I love how they turned out and I’m excited to show you how to make them!!!
