DIY Mouse Pad Cover

I’m working on a small cube makeover at work and really want to make it more “me.” It’s your standard gross, depressing fabric-covered space and it needs some help. The DIY factor for the makeover is small, partly because I already have some pieces I made that will be recycled or repurposed. But one thing that needs a spruce up is my mouse pad. I covered mouse pads before and had great success. The only con is that they tend to get dirty over time but that goes for any mouse pad, so it’s really just an excuse to change out your design and make a new one! It takes just a few minutes!

Materials

• Mouse pad (nothing fancy)
• PVA or Mod Podge
• Your favorite fabric (I’m using the Rosa Floral design from the Le Fleurs collection by Rifle Paper Co for Cotton+Steel)
• Scissors
• Paintbrush or foam brush

Basic Idea

Cut your fabric so it overlaps the mousepad by about 1.5-2 inches.

Apply a thin layer of glue to the mousepad using a brush. Center the fabric and place it on the mousepad. Smooth out any bubbles. The glue may soak through the fabric and that’s okay. Just smooth it out with your finger.

Flip the mousepad over and cut off the tip of each corner. Apply glue to the fabric and gently fold edges around and over the edge.

Then apply glue to the rest of the overlapping fabric in sections and adhere to the bottom of the mousepad. Smooth out. Let dry. Add a second coat if you need to.
